2019 6th Grade Etiquette Feast
On Tuesday, November 26, the 6th grade students participated in the 5th annual Etiquette Feast.
The idea for the feast came from Director of Instruction and Learning, Mrs. Jennifer Allerding, when she presented the idea of teaching the "Essential 55" etiquette rules to students that is based on the book The Essential 55 by Ron Clark. The rules are taught throughout the month of November. These 55 rules are geared toward helping our students succeed both in and out of the classroom. This year, students spent 5-10 minutes each day learning 3-5 of the Essential 55.
In the spirit of the feast, the cafeteria and tables were decorated to make the event fancy for the kids. 6th grade parents, students, and 8th grade lighthouse students volunteered to bring in some items and help serve food to help make the feast a success. The Brown Derby Roadhouse and middle school staff members also donated items in order to help out with the feast.
The food was served starting at 12:15, with students from Grace Point Church who participate in a 30-hour famine, eating first so they have time to eat before they began their fast at 1:00pm.
