This special weekend is all about celebrating Galion and creating opportunities to meet, reconnect, and enjoy time with friends and family in our community.
The Galion City Schools, Galion Alumni Association, Galion Community Education Foundation, Galion Tiger Alumni Band, and the Galion Community Foundation have teamed up to bring you an amazing weekend full of fun and tradition!
📅 Here’s what’s happening during Connections Weekend:
✨ Mark your calendars and join us for this celebration of community and connection!

Being tardy doesn’t just mean being late—it actually adds up to your overall hours missed in a school year! Every minute matters when it comes to learning. 📚✨
Let’s make every day—and every minute—count! 💙🧡 #AttendanceMatters #GalionTigers

If you ride Bus 18, you know how much the kids love Mr. Strine! Brett goes above and beyond to make every student feel safe, welcome, and cared for on their ride to and from school. His kindness and positive attitude make a big difference in our students’ day 💙🧡
Thank you, Mr. Strine, for the way you serve our students and families every single day!

Our school Clothes Closets help students in need stay comfortable, confident, and ready to learn. We are currently looking for new or gently used items in the following sizes:📍 Donations can be dropped off at any Galion City Schools office during school hours.
💙 Thank you for helping us support our students and keep them warm, comfortable, and ready to succeed!

Did you know? Having a regular bedtime makes it easier to wake up at the same time each morning—and that consistency helps students arrive at school on time and ready to learn! ⏰✨
Let’s build healthy routines together for stronger attendance! 💙🧡 #AttendanceMatters #GalionTigers

We will be doing Friday Facts about Attendance, first up..
The state of Ohio now tracks all absences for any reason. Missing 2 days a month puts your child at risk for Chronic Absenteeism.
REAL stands for:
Routines
Engagement
Access to Resources
Learning

This morning, we were honored to hear our very own Cadet Mackinsey McMillen speak on 9/11. We also stopped by Mr. Altman’s history class, where students received a powerful lesson on that tragic day.
'Together, we remember 9/11—honoring the past, and carrying its lessons forward. Today and always, we honor the lives lost, the heroes who served, and the resilience of our nation.**

Galion Middle School is excited to announce the return of our Spooktacular Halloween Treat Night!
📅 Thursday, October 30th
🕕 6:00 PM – 7:30 PM

A district-wide lockdown drill will take place on our campus on Friday, September 5th at 2:10pm. This is an annual event to review safety procedures with all students and staff. Our Technology and Admin team will use this drill to ensure the Centegix Crisis Alert system works properly. There may be extra emergency vehicles on campus during this time.

📢 Heads Up, Tiger Families! 🐾
New this year. We have monthly scheduled 2-hour delays for STUDENTS ONLY ⏰
✅ Why? These are not weather delays—they’re Professional Development days for our amazing staff to learn, plan, and grow!
✅ Who? Students start 2 hours late. Staff still report at their regular time.
📅 Check your district calendar or Below for exact dates! This will be a time to learn, collaborate, and plan to better serve our students. Thank you for supporting our teachers so they can continue to give their best!! 💙🧡

September is National Attendance Awareness Month!
Attendance is one of the biggest factors in student success. Missing just two days each month can quickly add up and impact learning, grades, and even graduation. Let’s work together to ensure our students are in school, on time, and ready to learn every day!

Your order forms will be coming home with your student soon—be sure to watch for them!

As a reminder, all NEW students, as well as those entering Kindergarten, 7th grade, and 12th grade, must be current on their required immunizations by September 3.
Ohio law provides a 14-day grace period from the first day of school (August 20). After this period, if immunization records, a medical exemption, or other required documentation have not been submitted, your student may be excluded from school until compliance is met.
Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy and safe!
