Staff Spotlight: Welcoming Our New Social Work Specialist
Galion City Schools is thrilled to introduce a new face to our support team — our very first Social Work Specialist! Welcome to the Tiger Family Ashley!! This newly created role was designed to provide dedicated mental health and social-emotional support to our students and families. We’re proud to welcome a passionate and driven professional who brings not only academic expertise but also a heart for connection and student well-being.
A graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University, she holds a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor's in Biology — a powerful combination that allows her to approach student care from both a psychological and scientific perspective. Her background equips her to help students navigate emotional and academic challenges with empathy, clarity, and purpose.
Outside of work, she brings vibrant energy to everything she does. A proud “plant mom” with a love for nature, mountains, and anything adventurous. When she’s not working out or blasting music, you’ll likely find her lost in the pages of old Farmer’s Almanacs. Her bucket list? Wandering through the misty highlands of Scotland. We are beyond excited to have her join the Galion family — her courage to climb is already inspiring us all.

We are excited to welcome our new Athletic Director, who is entering this role with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment to our student-athletes and community. When asked what excites him most about stepping into this position, he shared that he’s eager to help lead an athletic program that plays such an important role in the lives of students, families, and the entire Galion community. He’s looking forward to supporting athletes both on and off the field and working with coaches to continue building a culture of sportsmanship, and school pride.
This will be his fourth year at Galion, and in that time, he has enjoyed becoming part of the community and witnessing first hand the positive impact athletics have on students’ lives. His passion for education and athletics has been shaped by his previous experiences, including three years of teaching at Madison Comprehensive High School and a year teaching in Savannah, Georgia. His dedication, experience, and vision make him a fantastic fit to lead our athletic programs forward.

Ohio Wing 2025 Encampment: A Week of Challenge and Achievement
From June 7th to June 14th, a group of dedicated cadets from our CAP program participated in the highly anticipated Ohio Wing 2025 Encampment held at Wright State University. These cadets attended as First Class Cadets, representing our community with pride and commitment. Throughout the week, they underwent rigorous training and leadership exercises, culminating in a graduation ceremony where 19 of our cadets proudly received their certificates. A special honor was awarded to Cadet Zadrean Williams, who was named Honorary Cadet for his outstanding performance and dedication throughout the encampment.
Our cadets were fortunate to be accompanied by two exceptional mentors — Dr. Hartmann and Lt. Allison Kentosh — who supported and guided them throughout the week. The cadets took part in a variety of physically and mentally challenging activities, including marching more than 100 miles over the course of the encampment. Many also had the rare opportunity to participate in orientation flights with the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, getting a first-hand experience of military aviation. Additionally, cadets conquered obstacles such as the Rebel Tower and the Rock Climber, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones and fostering teamwork and resilience.
The Ohio Wing Encampment wasn’t just about physical achievements; it was also a gathering of nearly 300 cadets from across the nation, creating lasting bonds and friendships. The cadets came home with valuable lessons in leadership, discipline, and service, along with a sense of accomplishment and pride in all they had achieved. We are incredibly proud of their dedication and look forward to seeing how they apply their new skills in future missions and activities!

With courage to climb and hearts open wide,
Teachers stand daily as mentors and guides.

They shape lifelong learners with patience and care.
Teaching classes with empathy, integrity, kindness, and grace,
They help each student find their own place.
With never-ending questions and challenges, both big and small
Galion Teachers believe in the success of all.
So cheers to our teachers, steadfast and true,
Our Tigers are better and stronger thanks to you!
